Guitar heroes deserve a stage. And that's what they'll get on May 10 at the Effenaar. With Leendert Haaksma, Vedran Mircetic and Menno Gootjes, some of the greatest rock guitarists in the Netherlands are on the program of this Heroes Night. The guitarists will be accompanied by Manuel Hugas on bass and Martijn Vink on drums.

ticketshopWhile the guitar heroes may need little introduction, we do briefly touch on some of the records of these three extraordinary instrumentalists. Leendert Haaksma is nothing less than a hero on the guitar. You may know him from his work with Anouk, but also as a solo artist he is phenomenal. For a long time he was subservient to others, but on debut album XII Combustions he pulls out all the stops.
Pulling out all the stops: that's something guitar wizard Vedran Mircetic is also good at. As guitarist of De Staat, he makes the Nijmegen band's compositions soar to great heights. Vedran also teaches at the Amsterdam conservatory and is known as someone who is always looking for new sounds. 'Pedal King' he is also sometimes called. But for the guitarist of De Staat, the power really lies in the fingers and not in the feet.
Menno Gootjes completes the list of rock guitar heroes in the Effenaar. For those who have never seen Gootjes (known for his work with Focus, among others) live: brace yourself. Gootjes is a beast on the guitar. Always plays from his toes, with a completely unique touch. Where lesser gods might get nerves having to take over Jan Akkerman's torch, Gootjes just pops over with verve.
Together with Haaksma and Mircetic it promises to be a Heroes Night from which your lower jaw will fall open towards the floor.
