A new sound, a new urgency and a new look. There was a time when pop music was synonymous with constant change and development. Haarlem singer-songwriter Yorick van Norden is deeply aware of this. A nice little plan to record a record at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios was thwarted by a pandemic and its lockdowns. In a sense, all of his life had been upside down for some time. Health, illness and death had a big part in that. But why sit still when you can make another record in the meantime? That's what Playing By Ear has become, his third solo album, characterized by much more personal lyrics and a different, fresh and timeless sound.
Anne Soldaat took classical guitar lessons from age 12 to 14, bought an electric guitar from his teacher and started playing in a punk band in high school.
