GUITAR CONVENTION
On Saturday afternoon, June 1, guitar enthusiasts will be in for a treat in the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The BRIDGE Guitar Convention is a guitar fair, workshop day and a super cool moment to get to know other guitarists all in one. On every square meter of the building you will find guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and other cool trinkets at the stands of more than 70 brands. There is a good chance that you will be completely sucked into all the beauty that is on display. So be careful not to miss your favorite guitarist's workshop. This afternoon there are ten workshops, master classes, concerts and panels in the Music Building from which you will learn a lot.
MARK LETTIERI & METROPOLE ORKEST
Mark Lettieri is one of the groovy, funky, adventurous and at the same time catchy guitarists of the moment. His star has been rising for years. That upward curve now reaches a nice temporary highlight during his show at BRIDGE Guitar Festival with the Metropole Orchestra. Lettieri himself has an apt description for his music: it is the result of when you put Zapp & Roger, George Clinton, Eddie Van Halen and a barritone guitar in a room. In the same room you will also find Prince, Sly & the Family Stone, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Or, as Guitarist magazine calls it: cool, unique and special.
BRIDGE Guitar Festival is not unknown territory for the Metropole Orchestra. Last year, at the first edition of the festival, master guitarist Steve Vai performed with the groundbreaking orchestra. A show that Vai himself also considers one of the highlights of his career. Lettieri calls it a dream come true to play with the Metropole Orchestra: “Truly, as a musician I couldn't be happier than to perform with this great orchestra.” Joy that we share completely with him!
ROSENBERG + CORTES
MOSES & STOCHELO ROSENBERG + RAFAEL CORTES SR & JR. Anyone who sees these names one after the other already knows enough: this will be an evening of guitar of the highest order, where sparks will fly. With four fantastic string heroes who show that gipsy guitar and flamenco complement each other beautifully.
Stochelo and Mozes Rosenberg come from a family synonymous with passionate guitar music. They have already performed on the stage of many famous stages, such as Carnegie Hall and North Sea Jazz. The two play with unprecedented virtuosity and have phenomenal improvisation skills. These brothers, who pretty much live on stage, guarantee a guitar spectacle of the highest level. This time during BRIDGE, that spectacle is complete thanks to the presence of both father and son with the same name: Rafael Cortes. Senior is a temperamental flamenco guitarist and has collaborated with great guitarists such as Al Di Meola and Tommy Emmanuel. His son has inherited both his father's temperament and talent, as you will notice this evening.
