MAKAS
We love to be surprised. Makas is such a delightful surprise. They blend Turkish (Anatolian) folk music with progressive and psychedelic rock. Altin Gün has already proven that this connection can lead to a tasty blend. Makas's music is in line with these audience favorites. Murat's guitar parts are the binder in this surprising combination of styles. The fun thing about such a rich sea of influences is that the way you experience Makas's music constantly changes. Where one moment you get hit with a cutting guitar solo, the next moment you find yourself uncontrollably dancing, then you're treated to an adventurous leitmotif or a juicy riff that rock greats from the seventies would have envied. "Scissors," translates from Turkish to the word "Makas." "There is always the possibility to cut loose anything that drags you down and holds you back," says the band itself about the choice of that name. A metaphor that also fits perfectly with experiencing a concert by this quintet.
