MAGNETIC SPACEMEN
During BRIDGE AROUND TOWN, you'll find plenty of great garage rock bands. Magnetic Spacemen is one of them. The gentlemen bring a surfy post-punk version of the genre with lots of energy, sweat, madness, and fun. If Parquet Courts, Pixies, Oh Shees, and Together Pangea occasionally come up on your playlist, then Magnetic Spacemen will surely be to your liking. Their latest album "Polished Minds" more or less shows the opposite of that title: the songs are unpolished, pleasantly unpredictable, and adventurous. "If you're dazed in a corner recovering from what just happened to you, the truly beautiful final chord of 'The Way It Is For Me Today' with a confident strike plants a pickaxe in your heart. Blimey, this is beautiful. I surrender," wrote OOR about the album. And to think that the pinnacle of surrender takes place with Magnetic Spacemen on stage. Brace yourself!
